Our Kickstarter obsession continues. One member of the LAUNCH collective has backed 20 projects and is obsessed with all the iPhone and iPad hotness.
Our latest find: the iPhone 4 Action Case, which will turn your iPhone into a stable action cam if Matt Ozawa, a full-time designer and outdoor sports enthusiast, succeeds in raising $25K. The case fits any GoPro camera mount ($12.99 and up), which can be attached to your head, helmet, bike, motorcycle or car.
GoPro cameras start at $179 compared to $49 for the Action Case (if you pledge that amount on Kickstarter). [ For cool iPad accessories see this story ].
"Last winter I was preparing to go snowboarding in Utah and I was about to purchase the GoPro, but at the same time I was newly married with our first child on the way so I knew I shouldn't be spending the hefty price tag of the GoPro," Matt tells LAUNCH via email. "I thought for sure there was a product on the market. I googled it and nothing. Instantly I started engineering the product with a friend of mine."
Although the first case is not waterproof, Matt says that if the current project is successfully funded, he will move to a fully waterproof case to market the case to water sports enthusiasts.
"I expect a lot of different industries can benefit to the case," says Matt. "Snow, moto, biking, road, skydive I mean the list can go on and on."
So far the project has two backers and $118; 39 days remain for fundraising. Backers who pledge $64+ get the case in addition to a GoPro mount.
