An updated Facebook for Android app fixes some crash and performance issues and adds an improved sharing tool to match privacy options on the website and the ability to tag friends and places in photo posts.
Version 1.7 also includes an updated UI, photo browsing with swiping capabilities and support for Honeycomb, the Android OS for tablets. The last update, on July 14, featured more pages support and the ability to tag pages in updates using an "@" before the name.
Android users, long dissatisfied with the Facebook Android app, are posting mixed reviews.
"Bout time FB has a pretty decent update, interface its nice," Chauncey writes on the Android Marketplace site. "Lets see how long it is before something goes wrong, starting to get used to that..."
On the Facebook for Android Facebook page from Angie Lister: "Rubbish, as usual. Will continue to use mobile site. Seriously though, who is bringing this s*** to the market, and why isn't it tested properly before releasing? How do you continually get it SO WRONG???"
